TV FAQs
1. Double check all connections. They should be “hand-tight”.
If you are using a set-top box, the cable from the wall should be connected to the “IN” jack on the box.
If you are not using a cable box, the cable coming from the wall should be connected to the “IN” jack on the DVD, VCR, or directly to the TV.
2. Check the TV. The power should be ON. The right channel (usually channel 3) should be selected. If you are an HD subscriber, make sure the correct input is selected.
3. Check the Cable Box. The box should be ON. The box may need to be rebooted. Here’s how to do it:
- Turn the TV off.
- Unplug the cable box power cord from the wall.
- Wait 10 to 15 seconds.
- Plug the cable box power cord back in to the power supply.
- Wait for the box to display the time.
- Turn the cable box ON.
- Turn the TV ON.
- Wait for several minutes to give the box time to re-cycle.
4. If you still have problems – please call the Customer Care Center. Tell them what you have tried. They will ask if you have your TV and Cable Box ON. They will offer other suggestions, then schedule a repair call if necessary.
TV Troubleshooting
Issue: You can change the channel up and down, but when entering a specific channel number on the remote, it will not tune to that channel.
Select “Menu”
The “House” icon will be highlighted
Select “OK”
Go down to “Setup” and select “OK”
Go to “Guide Setup” and select “OK”
Go down to “Channel Entry Behavior”
“No Auto Tune” will be displayed – select Left Arrow button
The display should change to “Auto Tune”
Issue: You want to set your display to show time instead of channel number
Select “Menu”
The “House” icon will be highlighted
Select “OK”
Go down to “Setup” and select “OK”
Go down to “Cable Box Setup” using the arrow buttons
Select “OK”
Front LED will display “Current Chnl”
Select the right arrow button
Select “Exit”
Time should now appear
TV Tips
Tip #1: Unplug your television set, cable converter and Internet modem during an electrical storm to avoid damaging your equipment.
Tip #2: Check all cords, fittings and connections frequently to make sure they are not damaged or loosely connected. Loose connections can interfere with the quality of your reception.
Tip #3: Check your remote batteries periodically and have extras on-hand
Tip #4: Do not attempt to open or fix your digital cable receivers. If you have problems, please do not hesitate to call your local office for services and/or repairs.
Tip #5: Call your local office before digging on your property to avoid damage or destruction to underground cable lines. Please give us 48 hours notice prior to digging.
