Power Cycling Equipment

Power Cycling Cable Modems

  1. Locate the power lead on the back of the modem and disconnect it.

  2. All of the lights on the modem should go out.

  3. Let the modem sit unpowered for fifteen seconds

  4. Reconnect the power lead

  5. Allow up to one minute for the modem to establish a connection

  6. Restart/Power Cycle any computers or networking equipment connected to the cable modem.


Power Cycling Telephone MTA's

  1. Locate the power lead on the back of the MTA and disconnect it.

  2. Locate and remove the battery backup.

  3. All of the lights on the MTA should go out.

  4. Let the MTA sit unpowered for fifteen seconds.

  5. Replace the battery backup.

  6. Reconnect the power lead.

  7. Allow up to one minute for the MTA to establish a connection

  8. If your MTA is also used to provide your internet, power cycle any computers or networking equipment attached to the MTA.
